Police: Suspected burglar caught pushing stolen bike

FAYETTEVILLE, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Police in Fayetteville arrested a 21-year-old who allegedly stole a bicycle and other items from a home in the Lakeside on Redwine subdivision.

On January 7, 2012 Stephen Michael Jones was spotted pushing the stolen bicycle, according to reports. A homeowner called police after seeing Jones acting suspicious in the area.

When an officer approached Jones, he dropped the bike and fled to a pick-up truck. Police later found him hiding in the truck along with other items he had taken from the home, according to officers.

Jones is charged with burglary, loitering and prowling, and obstruction.

Fayetteville police are investigating the possibility that Jones has been involved in other crimes in the area.
