A pregnant mom says she got the scare of her life when she woke up and found her husband without a pulse and not breathing.
Sara McDonald says early Saturday morning her baby gave her a kick that more than just woke her up - it alerted her that her husband, Thomas, needed to help.
"It's like my baby saved my husband's life. And he's not even here yet and he saved his dad's life," McDonald said.
At 7 1/2-months pregnant, McDonald says her unborn baby, Cameron, is more than a gift, he's a life saver.
"It's an amazing feeling and I don't think anyone else can say that," McDonald said.
McDonald says she tried to perform CPR, but when that didn't work, she called Canton police.
"He didn't even have a heartbeat. He was purple from the waist up. It's one of the scariest moments anyone could go through," McDonald said.
Officer Ryan Campbell and Sgt. Mike Hales responded.
"He appeared deceased. We didn't have a pulse. He wasn't breathing," Hales said.
Both officers moved Thomas to the ground and performed CPR.
They weren't certain whether he would make it.
"We already lost one baby. I couldn't lose him," McDonald said.
After more than three dozen chest compressions, Thomas began to breathe on his own.
"I want to say, 'Thank you' for saving my husband's life," McDonald said.
McDonald said she was relieved that her husband will live to meet their new son in a couple of months.
