ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Approximately 2,000 shoes will be loaded on a truck Thursday at 10:00 a.m. by members of the Georgia chapter of National Association of Professional Organizers to help victims of natural disasters around the world.
The NAPO Challenge is a world-wide program developed between Soles4Souls, Inc. and NAPO members to encourage their communities to clean out their closets and donate gently worn footwear for a good cause.
Soles4Souls started as a simple idea to help the victims of Southeast Asia recover from the 2004 tsunami and has become the largest distributor of free footwear in the world.
"Soles4Souls has given me an opportunity to connect with the communities I serve. This effort by our NAPO-Georgia chapter resulted in us being part of something bigger than our local chapter, a greater camaraderie of our members, as well as providing footwear to populations in need. Something so simple as giving out of our abundance will have life altering benefits. We do this on a different level when we work with our clients. This impact will be on lives that can never thank us and for me that is exciting," said Sherry Lee Dento, President of NAPO-GA.
If you would like to donate, go to the JC Penney Outlet store at 5500 Frontage Rd. in Forest Park.
Any and all shoes gladly accepted. All shoes must be tied together, either by their laces or with a rubber band, and put in a bag or box.
