Cobb County Jail mug shot: 37-year-old Sheldon Mitchell
COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A sharp K-9 officer is credited with identifying a large marijuana growing operation early Wednesday while searching for a driver at fault in an unrelated car accident.
Cobb County Police Officer Mike Bowman said the K-9 unit responded to the scene of a wreck on Hembree Road NE to search for a driver who left the scene on foot.
The police dog indicated the scent of "green" or growing marijuana at a nearby home. Officers also saw three large air conditioning units attached to the building, according to Bowman.
A man came to the door and would not speak to police. The officers secured a search warrant and found over 150 live plants.
Police said Sheldon Mitchell, 37, and Rebba Tillen, 23, were taken into custody. Charges against both are pending.
