Woman charged in Flat Shoals crash, 5 injured, 1 teen killed

Police say a driver was charged for a fatal accident that happened November 5, on Flat Shoals Road and Harper Valley Drive.

Fulton County police said five children between the ages of two-years-old and 12-years-old were transported to area hospitals along with three adults after the crash.

16-year-old Jenkins died at the scene.

Police say driver Tamara Matthews crossed the center line and slammed into a family in a white mini van. 

Matthews is charged with two counts of homicide by vehicle in the second degree and failure to maintain lane. 

Her court date is scheduled for February 1.

The investigation is still ongoing, and the charges may be increased or additional charges may be filed.
