CBS Atlanta has Tough Questions for Atlanta Public Schools Board of Education candidate Byron Amos.
Amos is vice president of a rap music label called UGK Records. CBS Atlanta found a YouTube video with Amos giving a birthday wish to a rapper.
Here are the lyrics to a song that plays in the video before Amos starts talking;
"It all started with a Pimp C, b**** So what the f*** is up Told em somethin good Ease up my muthaf***** cut Cause if you don't really wanna f*** wit a trill n**** From the trill villa wit a steel trigga land of the real killers Pop Pop muthaf**** there you go I'ma bust em on yo a** if you don't ease up off me ho"
Shawnna Hayes Tavares, president of Southwest Northwest Atlanta Parents and Partners for Schools, interviewed Amos and the other school board candidates on Wednesday.
Tavares said when she interviewed Amos, she didn't know about the profanity-laced music he supported.
"For him to actually want to run for the board and say that he cares about children, when what he's doing is using this music to do the worst for our children. It's like robbing them and killing them. It's like cheating for them," said Tavares.
Tavares said Amos should reconsider his bid for a seat on the board.
"The last thing we need right now is an image that has any type of ethical or moral concerns. That's what's going on right now with the cheating scandal," said Tavares.
Reporter Tony McNary went to Amos' home to ask him Tough Questions about the message UGK Records is sending to students.
"Do you endorse this music, this type of language? Do you think it's appropriate for you to run for the school board?" asked McNary.
"At the appropriate time you will receive that answer," said Amos.
Amos said he will have a written statement about UGK Records and his candidacy for the school board next week.
