ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
When it comes to the best place to raise your kids, Georgia has missed the mark.
That's according to a new study done by the Annie E. Casey Foundation and the KIDS COUNT Data Book, which measures states on 10 indicators - including rates of poverty, child abuse, teen births, unemployment and single-parent homes.
Georgia came in as the 9th worst state for children, based on those rates. One of the main reasons for the rating is due to Georgia's unemployment rate, which has jumped from 4.6 percent in 2006 to 10.1 percent in 2011.
The survey ranked Mississippi as the worst state for a child to live in due to the lack of improvement in any of the 10 indicators. New Hampshire came in at number one.
