Four people face reckless conduct charges for a tree-jacking in Cumming.
A security camera was rolling as two men and two women drove up to Southern Cinema Design on Canton Road and cut down a 25-foot Bradford pear tree.
They tied it to their pickup truck and drove off, but it came loose about 300 feet down Highway 20. That's where they left it.
"They told me that they had a paid contract to remove this tree because the owner of the building thought that it was blocking his business," Cumming Police Sgt. Bryan Zimbardi says.
Jared Wallace of Southern Cinema Design says the suspects' story is "completely inaccurate."
In addition to the reckless conduct charges, the suspects could also face charges of theft, Sgt. Zimbardi says.
