ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Sen. Curt Thompson will meet with Union leaders and members Wednesday to discuss anticipated changes to Georgia's immigration laws.
Immigration experts will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about the new law.
Gov. Nathan Deal signed a bill into law, giving local police officers the power to question certain suspects about their immigration status.
The law takes effect July 1.
Other committee members attending will include Sens. Emanuel Jones, Vincent Fort, Doug Stoner, Gail Davenport, and Jason Carter.
The committee will also discuss the recent Supreme Court decision upholding Arizona's immigration reform laws.
The forum is at 5:30 p.m. at the Carpenter's Local Union Building in Atlanta.
