Justin Lock is an Emmy Award winning meteorologist who joined CBS Atlanta News as a weekend meteorologist in March of 2010. You can now see him every weekday on Better Mornings Atlanta helping Jennifer Valdez with weather and traffic.
Weather has always been his passion. Growing up in Ohio, he was no stranger to nasty storms and even until this day, the excitement of severe weather brings out the kid in him. When he was young he saw Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel reporting live during thundersnow (lightning and thunder during heavy snow) and the excitement that it brought Cantore. From that moment on he knew he was meant to forecast weather.
Justin graduated from The Ohio State University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology. He has chased tornadoes in Nebraska, lived through several landfalling hurricanes in Charleston, SC and forecasted countless nor'easters in Philadelphia, PA.
Justin began his career in 2001 doing morning weather in Hastings, NE with other stints in Charleston and Philadelphia.
In June 2011 Justin won his first Emmy Award for best On-Air Meteorologist in the southeast.
Justin is also a member of the American Meteorological Society and has earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal (CBM), the highest certification in his field. He loves Atlanta and getting outdoors anytime he can. Justin enjoys playing soccer, guitar, surfing, working out, cooking, and watching college football. Of course, his favorite thing to do is spend time with his wife and their two dogs, Cooper and Maya.
