DeKalb County school officials said Thursday that two high schools will forfeit football games for using ineligible athletes.

School district spokesperson Dale Davis told CBS Atlanta that an investigation learned that Stone Mountain High School used one ineligible player and Lithonia High School used “several” ineligible players.

Both schools will forfeit four games, Davis said, while Lithonia High will also pay a $700 fine.

Due to the forfeits, Stone Mountain goes from 6-3 to 2-7. Lithonia's record falls to 0-9.

None of the ineligible players’ names was immediately released.

Davis said that steps are being taken to prevent further incidents.
