POSTED: 7:41 pm EDT July 9, 2009

(Sports Network) - Kelly Shoppach hit a grand slam and finished with a career-high five runs driven in as the Cleveland Indians outslugged the Chicago White Sox, 10-8, in the finale of a three-game set from U.S. Cellular Field.

Ryan Garko went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI for the Indians, who won for just the sixth time in 23 games. Jhonny Peralta had three hits with an RBI and a run scored while Victor Martinez drove in the other run in the win.

David Huff started and lasted 4 1/3 innings while giving up eight runs -- seven earned -- on 11 hits to get a no-decision. Tony Sipp (1-0) got his first major league win by recording two outs and Kerry Wood retired the final four batters to get his 11th save.

A.J. Pierzynski went 2-for-5 with a homer and drove in two runs for the White Sox, who have just three losses over their last 12 games. Chris Getz went 4- for-4 with two RBI and a run scored, while Scott Podsednik had an RBI and scored once.

Clayton Richard (3-3) was tagged with the loss after giving up six runs on four hits with three walks in just an inning-plus of work.

Leading by two runs in the ninth, Wood was on the mound trying to seal the win for the Indians. Dewayne Wise flied to left for the first out before Getz finagled an infield single. Gordon Beckham swung and missed for the second out and Podsednik followed suit to end the game.

The Indians took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Asdrubal Cabrera led off with a double, stole third and went home as Beckham missed the throw to third. Peralta added an RBI single later in the frame.

Paul Konerko's two-run single, coupled with Peralta's throwing error, tied the game in the home half. Shoppach stroked a grand slam in the second inning to put the Tribe on top, 6-2.

"Six runs for the first two innings, you gotta like your chances after that," Cleveland manager Eric Wedge said. "But we have our work ahead of us, we got to get better."

Shoppach then drew an RBI walk off D.J. Carrasco in the third, Cabrera grounded into a run-scoring double play later in the frame and Martinez's RBI single made it 9-2 in favor of the visitors.

Pierzynski and Jayson Nix both slugged two-out RBI singles in the home half and Getz finagled a two-run double to cut it to 9-6.

Pierzynski had a leadoff homer in the fifth to cut it to two runs, and Podsednik added an RBI single off Jose Veras later in the frame to make it 9-8.

Peralta led the sixth off with a double off of Octavio Dotel and moved to third as Jermaine Dye's failed to field the ball cleanly. Ryan Garko's single then made it 10-8.

Game Notes:

It was Shoppach's first career grand slam...It was Wood's first save of three- plus outs...Cleveland was 4-for-14 with RISP and left eight men on base. The White Sox were 5-for-16 with RISP and stranded 11 runners...Chicago has won seven of its 12 matchups with the Indians.
