ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia may have dropped in the rankings, but the Bulldogs still have a chance to finish near the top in the polls. The No. 10 Bulldogs can make their case with three straight games against ranked opponents, beginning with Saturday's homecoming contest against No. 22 Vanderbilt.Last season, the Bulldogs lost two of their first six games and appeared on the verge of a crushing defeat at Vanderbilt. They rallied to win that game and scored more than 40 points in each of their next three games, including a rare win over Florida. They blew out unbeaten Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl to close the year on a seven-game winning streak, which pushed Georgia all the way to No. 2 in the final rankings. This year's team is better positioned to climb to the top. In 2007, the two early losses kept the 'Dogs from reaching the SEC championship game and effectively ended any hope of playing for the national title.
