Boyes, Blues Welcome Coyotes To St. Louis

(Sports Network) - Brad Boyes will try to continue his hot play to start the season tonight, when his St. Louis Blues welcome the Phoenix Coyotes to Scottrade Center.

Boyes scored a pair of goals in Saturday's 4-3 win over Washington to give him eight goals and 10 points on the season. The forward has seven goals and two assists over his last seven games.

Eric Brewer and Christian Backman also tallied while Paul Kariya had a pair of assists for the Blues, who have won two of their last three games and six of nine to start the season. Manny Legace finished with 23 saves in the victory.

Kariya's pair of helpers gave him 11 on the season and upped his team-leading point total to 13.

St. Louis is playing the second of back-to-back home games tonight and is 4-1 as the host this season. The club will be in Minnesota on Thursday.

The Coyotes, meanwhile, play the first test of back-to-back road tilts tonight and bring a 2-1 road record into this evening's game.

Phoenix was at home on Saturday and fell to the Dallas Stars, 5-3. Shane Doan scored the 200th goal of his career in the loss and also added two assists for the Coyotes, who have lost four of their last five.

Radim Vrbata and Daniel Carcillo also scored in the setback, while Alexander Auld allowed five goals on 25 shots.

Phoenix will play in Dallas on Friday.

The Coyotes and Blues have already met once this season, with Phoenix posting a 3-2 home victory on October 4. The win was the Coyotes sixth in their last seven games against the Blues.

Phoenix has also won four straight in St. Louis.
