UPDATED: 5:12 pm EDT July 13, 2010

CBS Atlanta News is excited to announce a new addition to its on-air staff. JaQuitta Williams is joining the CBS Atlanta News team!

JaQuitta’s successful career in TV news spans nearly 20 years. She’s the definition of a well-rounded broadcast journalist; she’s been an anchor, reporter, writer, and producer. JaQuitta came to Atlanta after serving as a morning anchor and reporter at KSHB-TV in Kansas City. She worked at WSB-TV for four years, spending time reporting the news both in the field and behind the anchor desk.

“JaQuitta is a wonderful addition to our CBS Atlanta News team,” stated Steve Schwaid, Director of News and Digital Content. “As a well-known member of the Atlanta community, she will help bring an additional voice to further improve our coverage. We're excited that JaQuitta is back in local news and ecstatic that she is on our team.”

JaQuitta has been featured as a guest on CNN’s Newsroom with Kyra Phillips, and on Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne” and “Meet the Browns”. Her energy and talent also won her a spot in Robert Townsend’s Gospel Music Theater of Hope.

JaQuitta’s career has enjoyed numerous highlights, including an interview with R&B legend James Brown, and a one on one with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts. Both women are breast cancer survivors, and both made the courageous decision to go public with their battles, in the hopes of educating and encouraging other women.

CBS Atlanta News is thrilled to have JaQuitta on staff. Her enthusiasm and journalistic integrity make her a perfect fit for the station that asks the Tough Questions, and keeps Atlanta leaders accountable.
