An estimated 2,000 brides-to-be and their friends swarmed Filene's Basement in Buckhead for the annual "Running of the Brides" sale Friday morning.

"Our strategy was just to run in here, get in here as quick as we could and kind of stake a spot and grab as many dresses as possible," said Mallory Carr, a maid-of-honor helping her friend who's getting married.

Hundreds of people camped out in the sidewalk overnight to be the first one in when the doors opened at 8 a.m. Watch the chaotic rush to the dresses here.

The racks were stripped bare in less than two minutes.

"I've never run into a store so fast," said one shopper.

There were a few minor slip-and-slides as people raced inside. One woman was even carried out on a stretcher after complaining of feeling ill.

While many shoppers were from Georgia, people traveled from all over. Rhonda LaBean came from Alaska.

"I heard about it on a movie, and so my sister and I decided to come. We have friends who live here, and my aunts and cousin and grandmother came to help us," said LaBean who plans on getting married in May.

The annual sale offers deep discounts on bridal gowns. Most dresses averaged about $250. High-end dresses sold for between $500-$700. Filene's management told CBS Atlanta News they expected to sell about 400 dresses Friday.
