WINDER, Ga. -- A 15-year-old was struck by a car Wednesday morning while crossing a road to get to a school bus, Winder police said.

The incident happened on Miles Patrick Road.

According to a police press release, the teenager, who was not immediately notified, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The release said that the driver of a 1999 Mercedes Benz may have been distracted when he ran through the bus’ flashing lights and stop sign. The driver was not identified.

Investigators said several witnesses, including the school bus driver, will be interviewed.

Charges against the Mercedes driver are likely, the release said.
