Fire Damages 10 Businesses In Fairburn
Early Thursday Morning Fire At Historic Strip Plaza In Downtown

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- A fire broke-out at a historic strip plaza in downtown Fairburn early Thursday morning. Ten businesses were affected with three heavily damaged.Clarence Robinson called 911 shortly after midnight when he drove by the structure on Broad Street and noticed flames."The whole backside of that building was flaring up with fire."About five-dozen firefighters responded. Firefighters dealt with not only the harsh cold and winds, but also the fact that the building is an estimated 100 years old.Fairburn Fire Chief Jody Weller said, "The building was up to code when it was built in the 1920's, but today it wouldn't be. It doesn't even have sprinklers."A cause has not been determined. No injuries were reported.
