A Georgia Tech graduate is in the midst of quite the career boost. A television commercial he created is all over Georgia’s airwaves.

Ben Callner already had a soft spot for the Georgia lottery. The lottery-funded HOPE scholarship helped put him through Georgia Tech. Callner, 25, now works for a video production company in Atlanta.

So when his friends saw a contest to create a commercial to promote the return of the lottery game Powerball to Georgia, "I was like, all right," Callner said.

Callner said it took him about a week-and-a-half to produce, shoot and edit the commercial. It shows a guy in an office cubicle thinking about how wonderful it is that he can now play Powerball twice a week.

The commercial ends with two talking hamsters. "I wanted it to be something kind of stupid and silly at the end that would kind of be hopefully funny. And my brother said, ‘You should put hamsters in there.’ And I was like, all right. Hamsters, all right, why not?" said Callner.

Callner said his boss is the announcer whose voice is heard in the commercial. The main character is a local actor. For the extras, Ben didn't have to look far. "My mom and my dad are both in there. I actually jumped in there, too,” he said. “And then the other one is a guy I work with.”

Callner edited his own mouth onto the hamsters’ mouths as one hamster says, “Holla at ya, boy.”

“Holla,” the other hamster replies.

“My roommate says that all the time,” said Callner. “ And it cracks me up. I really don't even know where he got it."

So what was Callner's prize? $5,000 and an HD camcorder. It’s not exactly like hitting the Powerball jackpot, but Callner said it could certainly be a big boost to his video production career. "I hope so,” he said. “I hope this is the beginning, most definitely."
