Police: Gang Members Broke Into Store At Southlake Mall

MORROW, Ga. -- The Macy’s at the Southlake Mall is the latest target of smash-and-grab burglars. Police said the group is made up of suspected gang members.Early Sunday morning, police said a Dodge Intrepid was driven into the store. A van was then used as a get-away vehicle. Police said they noticed a van driving without its lights and a chase ensued. They found four of the accused burglars at a Jonesboro Waffle House. Another was found in the woods and a sixth turned himself in to police.Morrow police said the accused are gang members. Three of those arrested are juveniles and three are adults. The Clayton County Jail said Octavis Nix, Eric Davis and Melvin Allison are teenagers over 18. Police said they face around 20 charges each.Police have associated the 30 Deep gang with the rash of smash and grab crimes. Most of the targets have been small stores selling designer jeans. Just last weekend, the Nordstrom at Perimeter Mall was targeted and now the Macy’s at Southlake.Police said the estimated value of the clothes is around $10,000. They say about $100,000 in damage was done to the store.
