ATLANTA -- Workers at a Buckhead church said a safe containing checks and cash was stolen.According to Atlanta police, the workers at Northside United Methodist Church on Northside Drive learned the safe was missing when they arrived for work Monday morning. The safe reportedly contained up to $100,000 in cash and checks.Workers told police it appeared that the thief or thieves broke in during overnight hours.Police said they have made no arrests and are now interviewing dozens of people who were in the church on Sunday."There was no forced entry, and no security cameras. That’s where we have to start. We have over 50 individuals that had access that can go in and out, come and go as they please to the church," said Atlanta Police Officer James Polite.“I just can’t believe that someone would do that to a church and all churches are great, but Northside is just a wonderful place for all ages and all people and has done so much for the community,” said church member Vicki Hall."We have questioned a cleaning crew that was there and a person who left the church Sunday night. They tell us there was nothing out of the ordinary and the church was secure. It would have taken at least two strong people or more to remove the safe," said Polite.
