JONESBORO, Ga. -- Eight-year-old twins, Keshawn and Shamara Bellamy, whispered to each other as they looked over a table full of presents at the Clayton County Sheriff's Office in Jonesboro. The two don't look identical, but they have a lot in common. At age two, both were diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. Shamara had leukemia and Keshawn had a brain tumor."Every time they get sick I get paranoid," said Cindy Bellamy, the boys' mother. "Is this a sign the cancer's coming back, or it's somewhere different?"Cindy and her five kids were able to put those fears aside as members of the Clayton County Sheriff's Office gave them donations of food, presents and even cash. Cindy held back tears and said her kids have seen her cry enough."You don't want to cry, you don't want your kids to see it," said Cindy. "You just want them to think, 'Momma is happy. She isn't crying.'"After an emotional moment, it was time for the kids to rip open the presents. Keshawn said it was a Christmas he'll never forget."Because we had big fun," said Keshawn. But Shamara had one regret."I should have saved one present," said Shamara. "I wanted to put it under the tree for next Christmas."Both boys are in remission, but receive regular check-ups to make sure the cancer hasn't returned.
