Funeral Held For Moreland Shooting Victim
Funeral Held For Martez McKibben
The church was packed for Martez McKibben's funeral in Lithonia. His friends and family remembered the twenty-one year old in what they called a moving service.McKibben's family says they cannot move on until they have answers about how paramedics responded. CBS Atlanta put the tough questions to Atlanta Fire-Rescue and there is now an internal investigation. On December 4th, McKibben was shot while working at the Moreland Package Store in Atlanta. Two masked gunmen barged in and demanded money. They ran out and McKibben was left behind the counter. His boss said McKibben was still breathing when police told him to leave. The store's surveillance video shows an Atlanta Fire-Rescue firefighter and two paramedics enter, look over the counter at McKibben and then exit the building. The surveillance video does not show anyone else in the building for 24 minutes. The Medical Examiner pronounced McKibben dead at the scene from gunshot wounds to the pelvis, torso and face. Trina McKibben wonders if someone had at least checked her son, would he still be alive.Police say they have both gunmen in custody. One is in jail and the other is in the hospital.
