ATLANTA -- A serial bank robber is targeting banks from northwest Atlanta all the way to Dunwoody. The robber is in and out in minutes and normally strikes near the end of the week on Fridays around the noon hour.Bank of America in Dunwoody is the most recent one.Friday, Dunwoody police are stepping up patrols hoping they catch him.“We can't predict when he is going to hit. We have had a series of incidents that have happened on Fridays. Is it likely that he will hit on a Friday? Possibly, however we will not discontinue any part of the week,” said Detective Kelly Gobely with the Dunwoody Police Department. The FBI said the serial robber is connected to at least seven other robberies and maybe more.Surveillance video taken at a local fast food restaurant shows a burgundy SUV pulling up, then moments later the suspect running by and into a Wachovia. A few minutes later he runs back to his car.“We are looking at a burgundy SUV, possibly a [Chevrolet] Tahoe, maybe a [Chevrolet] Suburban, the right rear hubcap is off, it’s got black running boards down the side,” said Gobely.Gobley said the Wachovia was hit twice within weeks of each other. The Bank of America on Jett Ferry Road was also targeted.Al Kosek said his wife was inside the bank when it was robbed. While waiting in line, his wife said the robber did something strange before he handed over a note to the teller demanding cash.“He gave up his place in line and then walked outside for a few minutes and then came back in and got back in line,” said Kosek. There is a reward for any information leading to an arrest. If you know who might be behind these crimes you are urged to call the FBI at 404-679-9000.
