Chris Magill Honored With DUI Decal For Patrol Cars
Gwinnett County police unveiled a new decal Friday that will go on DUI task force patrol cars.The decal is in memory of Officer Chris Magill. His name and badge number, 225, are prominently displayed.Magill was killed in the line of duty on May 23, 1993.He was arresting a drunk driver on Interstate 85 when another drunk driver crashed into his patrol car which was parked on the shoulder."He loved being a police officer. He loved everything about it," said Magill's father, Jim.Jim Magill Jr. said coping with his father's death is still difficult 16 years later. He thanked members of the DUI unit for paying tribute to his dad."For all of them to get together and put forth the effort in such a special way, speaks volumes to the character of these guys," he said.
