Officer Accused Of Illegal Poker Game Quits
Christopher Soltes, Homeowner Charged With Commercial Gambling

MARIETTA, Ga. -- A Cobb County police officer accused of dealing an illegal poker game in Smyrna resigned Wednesday.Police said Ofc. Christopher Soltes, 33, resigned Wednesday after being arrested at the illegal game Tuesday night. He and the homeowner, 42, Paul Miller, were charged with commercial gambling, which is a felony.Miller also was charged with keeping a gambling place and gambling, which are misdemeanors.Agents from the Organized Crime Intelligence Unit raided the Texas Hold'em game after an undercover officer posed as a player Tuesday night.Five others who were playing poker there will face misdemeanor gambling charges.The investigation began after neighbors complained about a lot of activity at the house.Soltes and Miller each was released on $5,000 bond. Soltes had served in the department since 2001.
