ATHENS, Ga. -- The man who Athens police said shot and killed a woman and sparked an alert at the University of Georgia was found dead Thursday afternoon.Athens-Clarke County police said the man, who was identified as Michael Wise, 25, of Athens, shot and killed a woman at a shopping center off South Milledge Avenue. The woman was identified as Kendra Borders, 20, of Athens.Police spokesman Capt. Clarence Holeman said the man was found dead about 10 miles from campus in neighboring Oglethorpe County from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police say Wise killed himself as police pulled his car over about 3:30 p.m.The shooting Thursday afternoon prompted an alert at the campus telling students and staff to avoid the university's golf course, where Wise had been spotted.
