Cobb County Homeowners Not Returning Home

Austell Subdivision, Mostly Vacant Homes

Robin Manley said before Mulberry Creek subdivision flooded in September it was a nice neighborhood.

However, six weeks after the flood she says things have changed. Manley said, "Now it's scary to come home and there's no one in the subdivision. It's scary to be here."

Manley is one of seven families still living in the Austell neighborhood. The subdivision has 25 homes but only about seven of the homes are currently occupied.

Manley and her neighbors told CBS Atlanta, many of her neighbors were senior citizens and cannot afford to rebuild. Manley said, "They are just going to let their houses go or foreclose, because money from FEMA will not repair the damage they got."

Manley said she would like to sell her house but knows that won't happen with so many vacant, flood battered homes surrounding her home.
