ATLANTA -- A male Morehouse University student was robbed at gunpoint while walking home from a library early Tuesday morning.The student was shot in the forearm and transported to Grady Hospital with what is considered a non-life-threatening injury. His name was not immediately released.According to police, the victim was walking home on Lawton Street from a library when he was approached by an unknown assailant with a 9mm handgun. The suspect told the victim to lie down on the ground, which he did, but then got up to confront the robber.During the scuffle that followed, the victim was shot, police said.The gunman left the scene with the student's laptop and backpack.The student went door to door to find help.Atlanta police are looking for the attacker at this time. He was described as a light skinned black male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches, wearing an army jacket and a skullcap.Students told CBS Atlanta that the campus is a dangerous place at night."You can't walk around anywhere, epecially not by yourself at night," said stuudent D'Andre Hall.Another student, Cameron Mitchell, said crime is common around Morehouse."We're trying to get an education. We shouldn't have to worry about getting shot and robbed," Mitchell said.Last month, Spelman College student Jasmine Lynn was shot and killed on the Clark Atlanta University campus.In the last six weeks, five Georgia Tech students were robbed at gunpoint. Between May and June, there were at least six separate attacks on or near the Tech campus.Students at the Atlanta University Center, which consists of madeup of Morehouse, Clark and Spelman, said Atlanta police need to do more."The AUC has been victims of robberies before and the city doesn't really care," Hall said.
