COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- A Cobb County woman who participated in a contest at Saturn of Marietta was told she was the winner of a brand new 2009 Saturn Vue, but days later she was told something else. When Angela Thorne went to the Saturn of Marietta dealership on Saturday, she had a key that she was told could win her a new car.She put her key in the lock and something amazing happened.“The light went off, and he announced that I won the car that I was the winner of the car and everybody came around and started congratulating me,” Angela Thorne said.In an email sent by David Guillory the General Sales Manager, it states: “Congratulations, we have a winner of the new 2009 Vue.”That email was received Saturday September 26 at 4:15 p.m.So the key did what it was supposed to do, but it according to Guillory it was just one step in a very long process.“But that is just the first phase in the process. We have to verify that the key that was mailed to Thorne is supposed to be the winning key," said Guillory. In other words, the winner of the contest has already been picked by the company hosting the contest. The odds of winning, “1 in 30,000,” says Guillory. “ At this point I hope she [Thorne] does [win the car] but it is in the hands of the insurance company."The nationwide competition ends September 30th, 2009. Only then can the winner picked by the insurance company be revealed. If it is not Thorne she will be stuck driving her 1994 Ford Taurus, with a busted rear view mirror and window seals pulling off.“I kept asking him that day, 'You can't say the box malfunctioned, there was something different with the key? You can’t say any of that?' He said, 'No you won the car. I saw the box light up. You won the car,'” Thorne said.
