SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- CBS Atlanta obtained video of thieves stealing women’s purses at Sandy Springs grocery stores.

According to police, a thief in a yellow baseball cap and shirt scoped out a couple at a Kroger on Sandy Springs Road on June 27.

As soon as the woman turned away from the shopping cart, the man grabbed the woman's wallet from her open purse.

Other women admitted they leave their purses in their shopping cart, in easy reach of a would-be robber.

"I'm the worst. I've even had security people in the store come up and say something to me and I still do it, because I get distracted,” said shopper Paige Ellis.

Sandy Springs police said this type of crime happens about five times a month.

Investigators believe different crooks are hitting stores all over the city.
