DECATUR, Ga. -- Former DeKalb County Police Chief Terrell Bolton resumed testifying Wednesday in his appeal of his February firing.Bolton was fired by DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis after Ellis accused Bolton of abusing comp time, defying orders and abusing the use of company cars. At the first appeal hearing earlier this year, Bolton denied the CEO’s claims."I never said, 'Teacher, may I?' These were more or less memos to tell them I was going to be gone," the ex-chief said.Bolton claimed he never abused the use of county cars."I didn't have security 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So intermittently, they would assign different cars to me or put them in my garage," Bolton said.Bolton was hired three years ago by former CEO Vernon Jones."Vernon Jones was my boss. He's the one who hired me. And my new boss never met with me to explain anything different that changed," Bolton said. The hearing officer will have 20 days from the end of the hearing to issue her decision.
