Independence Day Celebration at Marietta Square DATE: July 4th, 2009 beginning at 10:00 A.M. LOCATION: Marietta City Square and surrounding areasThe City of Marietta welcomes everyone to attend our All-American Independence Day Celebration at the Marietta City Square during the City's 175th anniversary. Events include a world-class, patriotic Parade which begins at 10:00 A.M., followed by entertainment beginning on the square at 12:00 P.M. with live performances by the Colgate Country Showdown, the Cobb Wind Symphony, and Peachtree Station followed by our spectacular fireworks display.The Parade will run from Roswell Street Baptist Church West on Roswell Street to the Square then North on Cherokee Street to the North Marietta Parkway. Seating for the parade will be anywhere along the parade route off the roadway, come early for the best seats.

In 1810, The U.S. War Department, fore runner of the Department of Defense, defined the national salute as a volley equal to the number of states in the union, 17 at the time. The salute was originally fired at 1 p.m. on Independence Day. It has been changed to noon since then.In 1890, the traditional Independence Day salute was re-designated the "Salute to the Union."As part of the Fort McPherson observance, Carol Eubanks, a USAG public affairs specialist, will provide a historical narrative and the Fort McPherson Color Guard will present the colors.
The Embassy International Chamber of Commerce presents one of the largest action packed Fourth of July Celebrations in the Atlanta area on Saturday, July 4 from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on the campus of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia.
The daylong patriotic celebration is full of live entertainment, amusement rides, food and fun for the entire family. Hosted by Bishop Eddie L. Long and First Lady Vanessa Long, the evening features inspirational sounds and harmonic melodies from the contemporary R&B Jazz ensemble, Five Men on a Stool.

Legendary 4th of July Fireworks, Family and Fun as Lenox Square Celebrates 50th Anniversary
Don your red, white and blue, and discover the fun at Lenox Square! 4th of July will be celebrated in grand tradition with activities for the entire family, including a Kids Zone with fun-filled inflatables, live musical entertainment from The Regulars Band, Sons of Sailors and Party on the Moon, food concessions and the largest fireworks display in the Southeast. The U.S. Army will also be on hand with a rock-climbing wall for adventurers.
As always, Lenox Square encourages the use of MARTA as a fast and convenient means of transportation to the event. This year, paid parking will be in place at Lenox Square for $10 starting at 6 p.m. A portion of the parking fees will benefit the Simon Youth Foundation.

Centennial Olympic Park's 4th of July Celebration offers a full day of fun and entertainment for the entire family including Atlanta's best fireworks display.
The annual festivities in the Park begin early with children's activities from noon - 5 p.m. including arts and crafts, face painting, performances, inflatables, stilt walkers and more! Visitors can also relax on the Great Lawn and cool off in the world famous Fountain of Rings. Q100 personalities Brittany, Johnny O and Adam Bomb will be broadcasting live from the Park beginning at noon.
The free musical entertainment begins at approximately 5 p.m. with the popular, local band Stokeswood. The Stokeswood sound, named after a downtown Atlanta street, is based on strong acoustic and electric guitar licks.
Following at 6:30 p.m. is a performance from the Infinity Show Band, one of the Southeast's premier entertainment bands. Enjoy a little taste of everything, as the band performs Motown, R&B, country, rock 'n' roll, Latin, big band, contemporary and jazz hits.
The headliner at 8 p.m. is American Rock Band, Vertical Horizon, best known for their hit singles "Everything You Want" and "You're A God." The band will perform their new single "Save Me From Myself" from Burning the Days, their highly anticipated, new album being released in August.
The finale of the evening is the AirTran Airways Fireworks Spectacular, a truly amazing show framed by the Downtown skyline and synchronized to a special selection of patriotic music. The fireworks soundtrack is simulcast on Q100.
The City of Decatur will celebrate the Fourth in the picturesque Decatur Square with a 6 p.m.
Pied Piper Parade for kids followed by fireworks at 7 p.m. Kids can decorate a wagon, ride a bike, skate, or walk in this festive parade.
