Victims Identified In Polk Co. Plane Crash

John Keith And John Edgeworth Were Both Killed In The Crash

Two people who were killed when a light sport plane crashed near Cedartown were found Friday morning.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Friday public safety officials located the downed plane in a wooded area off of Fish Creek Road.

John Keith, 44, of Cedartown, Georgia and John Edgeworth, 46, of Bowdon, Georgia were both killed in the crash.

Thursday night, family members of the victims reported that Keith and Edgeworth had not arrived at their destination.

At approximately 11 p.m. the Polk County Police Department along with surrounding agencies began a search for the downed plane in the area of Fish Creek Road and Collard Valley Road where family members stated was an area the two victims liked to fly.

The crash is estimate to have occurred between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon when 911 calls about a low flying aircraft were received.

The plane is a 2009 Ultra-lite Trike two-seater airplane registered to Atlanta Sport Aviation Inc. of Cedartown.

The N.T.S.B. will be working the crash site investigation to discover what caused the crash.
