COMMERCE, Ga. -- A Jackson County grandfather accused of killing his 6-year-old grandson and shooting his wife remained in an Atlanta hospital Monday.Robert Clark, 55, was charged with murder Sunday after police said he shot and killed his 6-year-old grandson, Michael Levigne. Police said Clark then shot his wife Linda and threatened police officers during a standoff.Officers said they were forced to shoot Clark, who was also charged with aggravated assault.The Clarks’ other grandchild, a 5-year-old boy who was also in the home, made it out safely.Residents said they are struggling to understand why Clark would shoot his family members. Investigators, who said they were called to the Clark home seven times in the past year, also had trouble coming up with answers.“I’ve done this a long time and I always wonder in tragic circumstances why they have to happen. I'm not sure I can give you an answer,” said Commerce police Chief John W. Gaissert.Clark and his wife are in Atlanta’s Grady Hospital. Linda Clark was listed in critical condition on Monday.
