DECATUR, Ga. -- Some students at Georgia Perimeter College are disappointed, after learning the swine flu outbreak forced the cancellation of their trip to Mexico City.Dr. Jose Cortez, who teaches Spanish, was planning to take a group of students to the Mexican capital in a few weeks so they could immerse themselves in the language and culture.Students had saved up thousands of dollars for the trip."They're very sad because we've been working for one year. We started recruiting in August,” Cortez said.Cortez said the school didn’t want to take the risk. Plus, he said, students may not have enjoyed the trip anyway."I understand everything has been closed in Mexico City, including all public places. Museums, the places we were going to go, all of them are closed right now,” Cortez said. The University of West Georgia in Carrollton also just canceled a trip to Mexico. But there is some good news for students. The schools said the students should get most of their money back, except for the airline tickets.
