DECATUR, Ga. -- A DeKalb County jail inmate was injured while trying to escape Sunday, police said.Investigators said inmate Kenneth Trusty went to the jail's recreation yard, tied bed sheets together, climbed onto the rim of a basketball goal and scaled a wall."How was this inmate able to make it all the way to the roof with the security that is in place?" asked CBS Atlanta's Michelle Marsh."He was in the recreation yard. There was no directly monitoring the recreation yard," said DeKalb Police Cheif Deputy Jeffrey Mann.Mann said the recreation yard has only supervised video cameras.Officers did not realize Trusty was missing until other inmates notified deputies, saying there was a man outside.Trusty's plan wasn't foolproof. Investigators said his bed sheets weren't long enough, and Trusty fell about 80 feet, landing on the roof of another building.Jail visitors said they couldn't believe what was happening."All the police they have in there, and no one knew what happened? He just climbed on the roof and no one saw him or knew? That's crazy," said visitor Shakeela Graham. "They might need to get tighter security."Jail officials told CBS Atlanta they will review security procedures.
