ATLANTA -- The Georgia Aquarium is home to 12 new shark babies. The spotted wobbegong shark pups were born last week in the aquarium's 6 million-gallon Ocean Voyager tank. They weighed about 2 ounces and were about 8 inches long. The births are the third round of new babies for the aquarium. Previously, the zebra sharks and the bonnethead sharks had babies.“We are proud to welcome the new shark pups to the Georgia Aquarium family,” said Mike Leven, the aquarium’s CEO. “We believe that it is important for guests to see all stages of development in our animals, especially birth.”The spotted wobbegong looks more like a large spotted catfish than a shark, aquarium officials said. It is considered a "near threatened" species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
