Playing go-between was the head of the NAACP Hollywood Bureau.Perry says he's happy with the deal and looks forward to working with the writers who are part of the guild. Things haven't always been this cozy between the two sides. On October 4, when Perry opened his new studio complex in Atlanta, the event was protested by four of the writers, Kellie Griffin, Christopher Moore, Teri Brown-Jackson, and Lamont Ferrell, as well as supporters from the Writers Guild and the community, who were dissatisfied at the state of the contract talks at the time.
