The Canton Police Department has been investigating a medical facility in Canton operating under the name of "Clinica de la Salud Hispana" located at 103 Oakside Ct. Suite C.

Two men were arrested on numerous charges. Miguel Velez was charged with 11 counts of practicing medicine without a license. Raul Velez was charged with 22 counts of prescription documents signed in blank.

The State Board of Medical Examiners received a complaint the clinic was using the name of a doctor that was supposed to be on staff and he was not nor did he did not give permission for his name to be used.

The Criminal Investigations Division then set-up an undercover operation and discovered that there was never a certified medical doctor on staff.

The clinic was performing medical services illegally including medical procedures on patients.

Authorities located prescriptions on site including controlled substances and were able to determine the clinic filled prescriptions for their patients on site.

Investigators located 22 pre-signed blank prescription forms in a safe at the clinic.

On September 30, 2008 a search warrant was executed on a residence located at 113 West Putnam Ferry Rd in Woodstock.

Investigators were able to recover a substantial amount of U.S. currency, along with medications, documents relating to the clinics, and medical equipment.

The residence belonged to one of the owners, Miguel Velez, who has been identified by patients as the person who performed surgical procedures on them.

Miguel Velez drove by the residence while investigators were performing the search warrant and he was apprehended and charged with 11 counts of practicing medicine without a license.

Tuesday night the Cherokee County Sheriff’s office was able to arrest Raul Velez. Raul was the office manager at the clinics located in Canton and Smyrna. Raul was charged with 22 counts of prescription documents signed in blank.

There are three other facilities in the metro area of Atlanta. They are all using the same name of "Clinica de la Salud Hispana". They are located at Smyrna off of windy Hill Rd, Holcomb Bridge Rd in Roswell, and Chamblee Dunwoody Rd in Atlanta.

Investigators have also secured warrants on Omar Velez, who is Miguel Velez's son for false statements and writings. Omar is listed as one of the owners of the clinic.

Police are looking for Omar Velez and if anyone has information on his location they need to contact the Canton Police Department at 770-720-4883.
