Braves Fans Talk About Skip Caray

From Joyce Collins:
We had been Braves and Skip Caray fans since the 70's. When my husband passed away in 1985, Skip and the Braves, without their knowledge, were my biggest support system in going through the grieving process. They got me through many tearful nights, especially Skip with his funny comments. I will truly miss his voice as an important part of my life.

From Gail Green:
I have been a fan of the Braves since 1984. Skip & Pete were the only 2 announcer that I really enjoyed listening to. He just had that voice with a sound that was easy to listen. If some of the others were announcing, I would turn the sound down and just watch. He will truly be missed.

From Bob Santos:
I met Skip Caray at a fundraising roast I did with Muscular Dystrophy back in 1993 for Don Sutton. At the time I met him, he was under the weather and was kind of arrogant. But as the evening wore in, he became entertaining and a warm person. I am not a die-hard Braves fan, but I love to listen to him and his broadcasts. I will miss that voice on television.

From Jean Gailey:
Braves baseball will never be the same. Our family always enjoyed listening to the crew on radio or on television when they were playing, His unique style of play by play was always enjoyable. Our condolences to his family - he was part of our family too.

From Michael D. Smith:
Skip Caray will be missed not only by the people of Atlanta and the Braves organization but by people nationwide I am a MA resident and enjoyed watching Braves games the skip was broadcasting on TBS and all other TV networks he worked for. Braves games will never be the same. My deepest sympathy’s to all the members of the Caray family.

From Tim Tallent:
It's shocking news in that I grew up listening to his broadcast as a 10 year old with a transister radio sometimes hiding under the covers to hear each game. It's been an every year thing you could count on for 33 years and to have him gone is sad. My thoughts are with Skip's family in their loss.

From Jack Bentley:
I pray for his family and also pray that Chip will keep his fathers legend alive by continuing to announce for the Braves. I was born and raised here in Atlanta and am an Atlanta Police Officer and I will greatly miss seeing and hearing Skip call the Braves. He was an institution here.

From Milton McMillan:
I am saddened to hear of the passing of Skip Caray. Mr Caray was like a member of the family to me. Even though I only knew him via the radio and the television, he was someone that I admired, respected and enjoyed hearing. He was his own man who called it like he saw it and told it like it was. My heart felt prayers and thoughts go out to his family.
