Family Hopes New Faces Will Bring Justice
Woman Shot 3 Years Ago During Attempted Robbery
A Dekalb County family is hoping a new investigator will bring a killer to justice.Anita Redmon, a retired police officer of the Doraville Police Department, was shot and killed three years ago while she was working as a gate attendant at Stone Mountain Park.Redmon was shot during an attempted robbery in July 2005. Today, family members still do not have closure."She was murdered, if you have to put a word to it," said Mona Giroux, the victim's daughter. "That's what happened, but we'd like to be able to put some closure to it."Giroux and her sister Donna Dennison are hoping that the anniversary of their mother's death will bring a break in the case.Stone Mountain police, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, are also hoping for a break, and have placed a new agent on the case."That is almost always good," said Chuck Kelley, chief of Stone Mountain Park. "Somebody new takes a whole new perspective, and in many cases comes up with a new lead."The family is still looking to the days ahead, and holds onto Redmon's memory."I try to live my life in happiness and not sorrow," said Dennison. "My tears are usually tears of mom's life, and not tears of sadness for her death."
