EATONTON, Ga. -- The Putnam County sheriff's office and state agriculture officials have seized 172 dogs from an Eatonton dog dealer.Sheriff Howard Sills said Wednesday that the premises were inspected and some of the dogs were found to be in bad condition. Sills said some of the dogs were in cages that were stacked four high.He said the dealer, Barry Davis, has not been charged.Sills said Davis did not renew his license and that none of the dogs were up-to-date with their rabies shots. The Putnam County Animal Control shelter has taken several of the dogs, but Sills said the rest had to be turned over to animal rescue organizations because of the large number of dogs. He said some of the dogs are being treated by a veterinarian.
