ATLANTA -- A former Atlanta city attorney may have been targeted in a shooting at a south Fulton County Starbucks Wednesday night, according to police.Investigators haven't confirmed that the shooting of Clifford Hardwick was intentional, but witnesses had a different opinion.“It was a targeted hit,” said witness Karmen Sneed. “He walked in, aimed the gun right at the man and shot him.”Sneed said the shooter even made statements while he was shooting at Hardwick.
“It was like ‘Yeah, I’m getting you, I got you,’” Sneed said. The shooting happened just after 9 p.m. Several people were inside the Starbucks playing chess and sipping on coffee.“That person sitting there didn't even budge. He didn't look surprised or anything. He just sat there and took it, took the bullets,” said witness Scott Arnold.Witnesses said Hardwick was shot several times and a man sitting next to him, who police identified as Timothy Strayhorn, was shot once. Both Hardwick and Strayhorn are in stable condition at Grady Hospital.According to police, the gunman walked out the store and shot two more times in the air. He then jumped in a white Chevy Impala and drove off. Police said someone else was in the Impala.Police said Thursday afternoon they have made no arrests.Hardwick worked for former Mayor Bill Campbell. The Starbucks remains closed. Store officials have not said when it will reopen.
