ATLANTA -- Wedding rings that police say were stolen from a dead woman by an Atlanta social worker will be returned.

Grady Hospital social worker Tacuma Jawara is accused of stealing Katherine Armstrong’s self-designed wedding rings roughly two weeks ago.

Authorities said the theft happened after Armstong was taken to Grady after a crash on Interstate 85. Armstrong died after arriving at Grady. Armstrong’s personal items were Jawara’s responsibility, authorities said.

Police recovered the rings Friday at the Pawn Mart on Cheshire Bridge Road. Investigators said it appears Jawara's nephew pawned the rings for him.

"I would have been happy to just get the suspect. But to get both, I'm elated," said Atlanta Police Detective P.J. Roberson.

Armstrong said he wanted the rings back so that his two young sons, Jackson, 4, and Adam, 20 months, can have the rings their mother carefully designed.

“For the boys, I think they're going to want to have them for their legacy and their wives and their families later,” Armstrong said.

Jawara made his first court appearance Friday morning. He is being held at the Fulton County jail on $25,000 bond.

Grady Hospital told CBS 46 Thursday that Jawara remains an employee.
