Stolen Zebra's Owner To Press Charges

The owner of a zebra found inside a college building earlier this week will press charges against the people who stole it.

Curtis Jackson said Thursday that he plans to press theft and trespassing charges against the people who took his zebra, which is named Barcode, a mile down the road to put it in a campus building on the Emory at Oxford campus in Newton County.

Jackson, 63, said the 800-pound zebra was fine. He said he can't believe the zebra wasn't hurt when it was walked to the campus.

Campus security found the animal unharmed at 7 a.m. Wednesday. Animal control workers returned it home.

An anonymous e-mailer who claimed he helped kidnap the zebra said it was just a prank. School officials said Thursday they are continuing to investigate the matter.
