The grandson of Chick-fil-a founder Truett Cathy is being mentally evaluated after police said he barricaded himself inside a Waffle House bathroom.

Atlanta police said Seth Cathy, 20, walked into the restaurant on Northside Drive Monday afternoon and locked himself in the men’s room.

“They could actually hear him in there tearing up the bathroom,” said Officer Ron Campbell.

Campbell said when police arrived, they didn't know who or what they were dealing with.

“It's one of those unknowns that can get you in trouble,” Campbell said.

When police finally got inside the bathroom, they found Cathy holding a metal toilet paper dispenser.

“He was completely nude, so the officers had to mace him,” Campbell said.

Police said Cathy had to be tied down to a stretcher and sedated.

Cathy will be charged with criminal trespassing and damage to property, police said.

Before the Waffle House incident, an attendant at a Shell gas station across the street from the restaurant said Cathy parked his car at the station and left the door open and the emergency flashers on. The attendant said Cathy also left his wallet and keys on the front seat.

The Cathy family addressed the incident in a statement released to CBS 46 Tuesday night.

"This is a non-drug or alcohol-related concern. Seth has been released from Grady Hospital and he is receiving care from his doctors with the loving support of his family," the statement read.
