Missing Columbus Children, Father Dead

POSTED: 3:05 pm EDT March 19, 2008
UPDATED: 6:00 am EDT March 20, 2008

The FBI said Wednesday afternoon that three missing Columbus children and their father have been found dead at a Columbus park, more than two weeks after the four disappeared.

Agents said Eddie Harrington, 28, took his three children, Aliyah, Agena and Cedrick from their home March 4. Police said at the time that Harrington left behind two notes that said he was going to kill the children.

WTVM-TV reported that the bodies were found at a park on Old Brim Road, near Chattsworth Road in Columbus. Columbus is about 90 miles southwest of Atlanta.

Authorities did not say how the four died. The bodies were sent to the GBI crime lab in DeKalb County for autopsies.

It is not clear if Harrington ever left Georgia with the children, though federal authorities thought he had and had issued a "federal unlawful flight to avoid prosecution" warrant for him. A report issued just after the disappearances said the family had been spotted in Tennessee.
