Feds: Fake FBI Agent Had Child Porn

A security guard in Jonesboro is accused of impersonating a federal agent and possession of child pornography, federal authorities said.

U.S. Attorney David E. Nahmias said Douglas Yutaka Rhoades, 42, was being investigated for allegations of child molestation when a witness told police that Rhoades was a Special Agent for the FBI and was assigned to undercover duties.

FBI officials said Rhoades was not and had never been an FBI employee.

Clayton County police arrested Rhoades on Jan. 24 and found numerous compact discs containing child pornography inside his home.

Nahmias said that there may be more victims of Rhoades and asked for the public’s help in locating possible victims.

“The criminals who exploit children often use guile and trickery, rather than brute force, to convince their young victims to engage in sexual activity,” Nahmias said. “We are extremely concerned about the threat posed to children by someone who allegedly posed as an FBI agent investigating child exploitation -- someone we need our children, as well as adults, to trust if we are going to be able to identify victims and arrest offenders. We urge any victims or other citizens with knowledge of this alleged scheme to contact the FBI, and we pledge to vigorously prosecute this disturbing case.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI’s Safe Child Task Force at 404-679-9000.
