DeKalb County 'Rolls Out' New Precincts

DeKalb County police chief Terrell Bolton Thursday unveiled his latest weapon in his fight against crime.

State-of-the-art, modified recreational vehicles acting as mobile police precincts will be stationed in high-crime areas throughout the county.

The RVs will also be part of "Operation Hammer Time" -- a crime and nuisance reduction strategy for bars and clubs that cause problems for neighborhoods and businesses.

"We can actually pull out the awnings and hold community crime watch meetings," Bolton said.

The RVs were purchased with confiscated drug money.

Bolton said the total purchase price was $1.2 million.
